Boti KINGDOM - SOUTH EAST EAST NUSA
Boti is a quaint village in the southern part of South Central Timor (TTS), Province of East Nusa Tenggaera (NTT), approximately 150 km from Kupang or 50 miles from So'E.
When I was a kid, the 80s, I know people - people Boti as savages and people - people who adhere to animist beliefs.
Boti become the talk of my childhood because of the many tourists who visit there. In fact I had been a tourist guide dadakakan for Western tourists who want to go there (In that year I got my first 1 U.S. Dollar. A pride for me).
At that time people - people from the village - the neighboring village visit there because of fear of mythical stories. Some say if it is not self-reported first return would get lost there dahulu.kalau
I am so asking - wondering why people want to go there? What's going on there?
Primitive life
This tribe is as untouched by the acceleration of the changing times, perhaps because the location is very close; be Babuin valley between the mountains and mountains bele.
Life was like there is relies on the natural, very natural. Starting from food, equipment - cooking tools, spices - condiments, cooking oil, washing tools and do not even use soap factory-made but with herbs - herb itself.
I was reminded of a story when I was a grade 6 first. Because there are weekly markets in the Village Oinlasi every Tuesday, people - people Boti usually visit the market to buy the company needed them for example kerosene and other rice - others. When finished shopping and wait for the afternoon sun, they usually take shelter in a large banyan tree in Branch bele and start lunch. There are some people who are food poisoning from eating food that day their groceries they buy on the market. They were helped by people - people who happened to pass by there Oinlasi, after investigation it turns out the food they eat is not food but dab Brand Soap Wings with bottled palastik. he he he ......
The story above illustrates how they are still primitive.
The clothes they wear are also made of cotton they planted the fields are spun, made yarn and woven.
Community life
They have their own system of government. There are King or commonly called Usif and Hulubalangnya.
And Usif most famous is Nune Benu.
Nune Benu Usif renowned for his virtue, his greatness and representations represent Tribe Boti.
He is often represented in a promotional event NTT Visit Indonesia in Jakarta, even according to the story, for travel he never used motor vehicles and even aircraft. He can be reached - appeared on the Travel Exhibition at Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.
In the yard at Boti, he maintains all types of animals, from tigers, lions, eagles, various types of birds and snakes. And he gives food to them every day.
Boti days of his leadership to achieve the golden kingdom. This is marked by numerous tourists to Boti.
All activities and social life squad societal wheel controlled the King and to the decision - some decisions are taken by traditional elders meeting in lopo or custom homes community Boti - Timor.
One of the biggest decisions they make is deciding to expel kelaur Crown Prince, Laka Benu of Land Boti for violating their rules that move the trust to embrace Christianity.
So after the death of Usif Nune Benu in March 2005 that there was continued leadership Name the second son of Nune Benu Benu.
